Weight Loss-The worst New Yearâs Resolution
We say to ourselves and friends that you will start a diet next year after all the holiday parties are over. A promise that is easy to break because you probably already broke last yearâs resolution.
Yes, it is great that you want to lose weight, especially for the health benefits to come from being trim. If you have been overweight for many years then I bet you have broken many promises. Start today and do not look at losing weight as a new yearâs resolution because that is too short of a time. When February comes along about sixty percent of the people have already broken their promise; about ten percent less each month. Only about five percent of the people stay on track and really achieve their new yearâs resolution.
How to beat that losing streak, well, do not teach yourself bad habits that will stay with you forever. You have proven this by doing the same thing year after year. Promise yourself that you will build new habits and will be one of your best new yearâs resolutions. Get into the habit of doing right away what is necessary to benefit yourself. You are doing yourself harm in building really bad habits of postponing your plans for the future.
Â
See the future as the way it really is: it does not exist. Yes, think about it, do you really know that you will be able to accomplish this promise in the future. Unless, you have a crystal ball, no one really knows what lays ahead in our future. The present is our best bet because that is what we are living and the past there is nothing we can do about but learn from it.
When you resolute to do something, just do it and do it today. Today is going to be the best time to do all that you have promised yourself. Believe me there is no other time. Do not think of time as a solid matter because it is not; time does not exist. Time is something invented by humans to keep track of things. We humans think that we can control time by putting time on our actions like: I will start a diet on New Yearâs Day. That idea of time is in your head and you can change it, do not wait and plan for the future because the future can be today.
